The state that the room is in suggests that he is lazy. Empty and half empty bottles on the table and floor, fast food rubbish, and wallpaper starting to peel. The way he is dressed and the gun lying on the floor suggest that he has money which contrasts with the state of his home. His general demeanour in the image and his facial expression suggest that what he is smoking is a form of drug, which is confirmed by the title.
This is a pretty strong image in the sense that it shows the shaky life of the individual in this picture. The two ashtrays and multiple cigarette butts along with the alcohol bottles and guns enforce his druggie lifestyle, this is also emphasized by the loose cash, CHRONIC poster and his style of clothing. His shoes represent the stability of his situation, he has one on and the other on the ground which represents his direction in the path of his life which is confused and disorientated. He is wearing glasses which suggest that he is still educated however he uses his intellectual skills for non-beneficial reasons. The lighting shows his goals and future, it is pretty dull so it emphasizes his go with the flow way of life and how he doesn't have any strong motivation or goal in life. Lastly his posture represents his will to change the way he wants to live and the effort he is making to change it, his posture is slack and lazy which strongly emphasizes his uninterested behaviour towards making a positive change in his life. Overall its a pretty powerful image and it shows just how much you can decipher of ones lifestyle from just one image.
